Image Source: XtraTime[/caption]Kolkata: Kingfisher East Bengal is having a purple patch at the moment as the Red & Gold brigade has won five consecutive games in the Hero I-League to position themselves on top of the points table at the moment. Trevor Morgan's side will play against Chennai City FC on Sunday to maintain their position on the top of the ladder as well as to gain the required momentum before the all awaited Kolkata derby on February 12.
After an optional training session in the morning at the Bidhannagar Sports Complex ground, East Bengal conducted the pre match press conference at the club tent a day before the match day owing to the unavailability of the match commissioner on Saturday.
In the press conference Trevor Morgan said, "We are not looking at our current position while playing tomorrow's game and taking this one as just another game. It's another three points which we want to try and get. All the games are important for us as we want to be successful."
The East Bengal gaffer mentioned,"It's not important where we are at the moment, important is where we want to finish at the end. The players are working hard to get there, we have been through some good performances but as I mentioned the most important thing is about.where we want to finish." He added, "You cannot take any team lightly because upsets happen and Chennai is doing well of late. That's why we approach every game at the same way. We respect all the oppositions we play against. They have two Brazilian forwards in the team and if you give them time and space they can hurt you."
The East Bengal coach was asked whether his team got complacent against Mumbai FC after scoring two quick goals in the first half, but Trevor said, "Has it? I don't know that. The reason I can give you is that our players were dead tired. We had a fourteen hours journey back from Punjab and nobody went to bed before midnight on Monday and we had a training on Tuesday. It wasn't easy to recover from that but everybody gave everything they had in the game."
The East Bengal coach took on his critics as he said, "As long as we are getting three points and creating opportunities, I'm happy. My players trust east other. Hopefully they trust me and good results and relationships build on trusts."
In-form forward Robin Singh Said, "Our focus is on our team not on the opposition and we are preparing for it." Talking about the coach, the flamboyant forward said, "He is one of my favourite coaches and I love working with him on and off the field. Our team is a family, we are one for each other."
The confidence, trust and the body language of the East Bengal camp say it all, Trevor Morgan's East Bengal is dreaming big and eyeing the illusive trophy at any cost.
