Sunil’s friendship with Sonam has been for long time since he played in Mohun Bagan jersey 5 years earlier.
Another interesting story is that Sonam is the daughter of former Indian international footballer Subrata Bhattacharya and she is the sister of Kolkata’s well-known actor Saheb Bhattacharya. According to sources the marriage will happen in between the last week of February and first week of march.
Sunil secretly visited Kolkata on Thursday (December 15) and asked Subrata that he want to marry Sonam.
Talking to xtratime.in about this matter the former Indian international Subrata Bhattacharya said,” Yes, Sunil visited us. They have been in a relationship for a long time and I think they will be happy with each other. His parents will come to Kolkata in a couple of weeks to finalize the wedding plan.”
Some close relatives of Subrata Bhattacharya said, at first Sunil was a bit nervous and then put the issue forward to Sonam’s father. Subrata also accepted Chhetri’s proposal to marry Sonam.
The tittle-tattle around Chhetri and Sonam’s marriage had suddenly came in news when Sonam, along with his elder brother went to Goa to see a match of him.
Again, the rumour floated when Sunil posted a wish for his girlfriend’s birthday on the social website writing,”wish you success and good health.”
After reaching Delhi on Thursday night Chhetri tried to avoid the matter and said,” Yes I went to Kolkata to meet my former coach Subrata Bhattacharya for some personal issues.”
When asked about his marriage, Chhetri laughed off and replied,” Everyone knows about our relationship. So it is not new.”
