According to reports by Spanish journal El Mundo Deportivo, the Argentine was seen coming back after hunting the rare species of antelope. The journal also claimed they are not 100% certain whether they are real or have been photo shopped.
According to the photographer Nacho Montes de Oca, who took the picture of Maradona said, "Maradona has an Arabian Oryx in his hand. He shot a young one, not an adult, which can be dangerous if attacked."
There has been widespread criticism about the incident in the social media. Maradona, regarded by many as the greatest footballer the game has ever seen, has been in the middle of controversies on numerous occasions. The Argentine legend has always been in spotlight both as player or a coach.
However, for all his brilliance, Maradona was never far from controversy. He outraged English fans by punching the ball into the net in the World Cup quarter final in 1986, a goal that ultimately eliminated England from the tournament. He was also kicked out of the World Cup in 1994 after failing a drugs test.
With Diego Maradona, there was always a story. His incredible career was littered with brilliance, trophies and awards, but there was also scandal and disgrace.
