Also he was superstitious of getting out loosing concentration if I went to the ground".

The senior Yadav, who also played for U-19, U-21 Haryana team was overwhelmed with his son's success, “I am very proud of my son and very happy. We are planning for a grand dinner when he returns after the Test series. His mother will prepare his favorite Chicken Tandoori and Mutton Rogan josh".

Jayant, who earlier made his debut for India at the same venue in the shorter format as well, was sporting the name of his mother Laxmi at the back of his jersey. But there was a heartwarming story behind the name that was revealed by him after the match.

Laxmi was Jayant’s birth mother who expired in a plane crash 17 years ago. Jayant was brought up by his step mother Jyoti. On being asked why he did not sported both his mother’s name, an emotional Jayant said he sent a beautiful message to Jyoti who was surely watching him play his first match for the country. Jyoti Yadav nurtured and brought Jayant up as her own son, helping Jayant in every way possible as he went in pursuit of becoming a top-flight cricketer. Jayant has two young sisters Gargi Yadav who is a PR professional and Riya Yadav who is a swimmer.

Jai singh continued saying, "He is a very honest and disciplined boy. He started his career as an opening batsman but later switched to bowling and became an all rounder. All credit goes to his coach Aaswani Kumar who nurtured him from a very young age".

Jayant's coach Aaswani Kumar was full of praise too about his student. According to Aaswani, "Jayant is a dedicated cricketer and before any match he would go to the field before the team and start warming up alone. He has been following this since childhood. I have never seen him sitting idle in the dressing room as he will always hold a ball or a bat with him. Today he has represented India just because of his dedication towards the game. I am very proud of him".

Jayant initially stayed in Gurgaon District and started his career playing for Delhi's New Friends Club and was a student of DPS Vasant Kunj and then studied BA programme at the Hindu College.
