Internet Desk: Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara both scored centuries to pile more misery on England bowlers on Day 1 of the second test at Visakhapatnam. Kohli reached his 14th test ton while Pujara scored his 11th test ton of his career. It was also the third consecutive century for the Sourashtra batsman.

Kohli took 154 balls to reach the milestone which included 12 fours. The Indian captain was lucky as he was dropped by Adil Rashid on 56 runs off the bowling of Ben Stokes.

Pujara too survived a sharp run out call when was on 22 runs. Apart from the early jitters Pujara looked solid throughout his innings. He reached his century with a six off Adil Rashid over deep mid wicket. He eventually was dismissed by James Anderson caught behind by Johny Bairstow for 119 runs. His 204 ball knock included 12 fours and 2 sixes. Pujara now has scored 4 centuries against England at home and has an average of 97.85. His previous two hundreds came during the last series in 2012 when he scored 206 runs at Ahmedabad and followed it up with a score of 135 runs at Mumbai. His last hundred was in Rajkot in the first test match of the recent series. India has scored 283/3 so far.

Earlier Virat Kohli did not hesitate to bat first after winning the toss on a wicket which looked to be a rank turner. India did not get the best of starts as Stuart Broad striked in his first over, getting rid of KL Rahul for a duck. The Karnataka opener came in the side in place of Gautam Gambhir

The other opener Murali Vijay played some delightful shots and scored briskly. He was particularly severe on Stuart Broad. James Anderson, who was making a comeback after injury, accounted for Murali Vijay for 20.

After the early jitters, Kohli and Pujara defended and played some exciting shots. The two added 226 runs run for the third wicket.

India made two changes to its team from the first Test bringing in KL Rahul in place of Gautam Gambhir and gave Jayant Yadav his international cap in place of Amit Mishra. England on the other hand made one change, bringing James Anderson in place of Chris Woakes.

The first test match between the two sides ended in a draw at Rajkot.
