Internet Desk: Bengal is just five wickets away from giving a Diwali gift to its fans. Railways at stumps on Day 3 is 196/5, still 119 runs short of Bengal’s target of 315 runs.

Railways didn’t have the greatest of starts in the second innings as well. Bengal rookie pacer Amit Kuila picked the wickets of Soaurabh Wakaskar , Mrunal Devdhar and Cheluvaraj to reduce the Railways score to 22/3. First to depart was Saurabh, who gave a simple catch to Pankaj Kumar Shaw for 11 runs. Soon to follow him was Mrunal Devdhar who missed the line and got bowled by Kuila without scoring. Railways were in further trouble as Kuila picked Cheluvaraj of his next ball to take his match tally to 5 wickets.

A brilliant partnership of 134 runs for the fourth wicket between Shivakant Shukla and Arindam Ghosh took the Railways score to 156 runs. Sayan Ghosh gave a crucial breakthrough for Bengal as he removed Shukla, getting him caught by Dinda for 83 runs. Shukla’s 186 balls knock had 12 hits to the fence. Railways score was 156/4. The right arm medium pacer struck again to give Bengal a double breakthrough by removing Arindam Ghosh as well. Ghosh was plumbed before the wicket after scoring 51 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Mahesh Rawat and Railways Captain Karn Sharma negotiated the remaining overs to get the total to 196/5. Mahesh Rawat is batting on 23 runs while Karn Sharma is not out on 13 runs.

Earlier Bengal just managed to add another 6 runs to their overnight score of 208/9. The last man to get out for Bengal was Pankaj Shaw who scored 25 runs. He was bowled by Karan Thakur.

It will be a thrilling final day as both teams has an outright chance of pulling off a victory with odds slightly tilted in favour with Bengal as they have taken the new ball.

“We have taken the new ball which is just 1 over old. The first session tomorrow will be very crucial as our bowlers need to take advantage of the condition,” said Manoj Tiwary after the days play.

The Bengal captain further added, “There will be ups and downs in cricket. And Railways are no pushovers as they have some very good cricketers. I still believe we are in a better position to win. My bowlers have been outstanding. Dinda after getting an injury to his left shoulder bowled his heart out.”
