On the other hand top seed Novac Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinal. Sania Mirza along with her mixed doubles partner Ivan Dodig lost in the round of 16 yesterday.
After some good games in this US Open Nadal ended his run losing to Lucas Pouille is a five set match. Nadal took an early leave from the circuit giving a trailing run of 6-1 2-6 6-4 3-6 7-6(6).
"Is not a question of experience; it's a question of playing a little better than I did. Need to play with a little bit more calm. I lost an opportunity to have a very good event here. I'm sad for that”, Nadal confessed after the match.
In a reverse mood Lucas Pouille was excited after this win. He said, “My first match on the center court against Rafa. Yeah, I could not dream better than this."
Novac Djokovic however, advanced to the quarterfinal winning over Kyle Edmund by 6-2 6-1 6-4. Having lots of rest in his previous two matches Djokovic was in full form to win the match.
Sania Mirza ended with her mixed doubles hope losing to Barbora Krejcikova and Marin Draganja by 6-3 6-4. However, she still has her hope in the women’s doubles along with her partner Barbora Strycova.
