Kapil to ring Eden bell for the 250th Test in Indian soil. Source : Xtra Time[/caption]Kolkata : Eden Gardens is gearing up for the historic 250th Test Match in Indian soil on 30 September featuring Kapil Dev as the Chief Guest. Kapil the 1983 World cup winning team captain will ring the inaugural Eden bell in the morning to start the 2nd test between India and New Zealand. The bell is being located just under the Eden clock on the pavilion end.
To make the test memorable Cricket association of Bengal (CAB) is also preparing silver coin embossed with the logo 250th test match which will be given to all the cricketers of both the teams on the third day of the match.
Both the teams are reaching Kolkata on tuesday and the groundsmen are working day and night to prepare the pitch. CAB sources said although the pitch is not expected to be a rank turner like Kanpur but with the passage of time during the test match the ball will certainly help the spinners. Indian captain Virat Kohli who after the Kanpur test expected Eden gardens pitch to be batting friendly won't be disheartened with the nature of the pitch sources disclosed.
For the first time a special Gold coin will be used for the toss which will be used with CAB logo embossed on it.
BCCI President Anurag Thakur is supposed to visit Eden Gardens on the second day of the Test match.
