Internet Desk: Former ICC chairman N Srinivasan’s hopes of representing BCCI at International Cricket Committee(ICC) hit a roadblock. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its AGM held in Mumbai on Wednesday decided to continue sending its President Anurag Thakur at the ICC.

Sharad Pawar was nominated by the BCCI as the alternate director for ICC meetings. Meanwhile, Ajay Shirke was elected unopposed as the BCCI Secretary. Shirke was the lone BCCI functionary to file his nomination for the post.

The former Indian cricket strongman from Tamil Nadu was being widely tipped to return to the BCCI fold with a role in the world body. The BCCI removed him from that position after the Supreme Court asked Srinivasan to step aside from all Board-related activities in the wake of the 2013 IPL match-fixing and betting scandal.

Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, who was a team owner of Chennai Super Kings, was charged with betting and has been banned for life. Chennai has also been banned from the IPL for two seasons until 2017.

Current ICC chairman Shashank Manohar replaced Srinivasan  at the apex body of cricket in the world.

In recent times, Manohar and BCCI are on different pages. The Indian cricket board is unhappy at some steps taken by Manohar as ICC chairman.

Reportedly, Shirke met Srinivasan to discuss a role for him. But keeping Lodha panel guidelines on age and tenure in mind, the BCCI probably did not take a risk by including the controversial Srinivasan again.

Anurag Thakur will continue to represent BCCI in ICC's Board of Directors. Thakur had earlier hinted he wasn't keen to be on the ICC panel.
