Internet Desk: Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna lost 6-2, 2-6, 3-10 to US' Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram in the Rio Olympics 2016 mixed doubles tennis event and with this India's dream for a Gold medal in tennis goes in vain.

Sania-Bopanna had control over the match but a few shuttles in the second set gave advantage to the American pair of Venus-Rajeev.  The match went on to end on a tie and forced to take the match to tie-breaker and in the tie-breaker India was leading 2-0.

Next, Venus and Rajeev came back strong extending their lead from 4-3 to 6-3 and Sania- Bopanna lost control over the match totally. The Indian pair lost miserably in the tie-breaker 3-10 and failed to stand in front of Venus and Rajeev Ram.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal's bid for an unprecedented second Olympic singles gold medal ended with a thrill-a-minute semifinal loss to the resurgent Juan Martin del Potro.

Del Potro, who earned a bronze for Argentina four years ago, will add a silver or gold to that after advancing to the Rio de Janeiro Games final by coming back to stun the third-seeded Nadal 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (5) on Saturday.

Using the same ferocious forehands that carried him past No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the first round a week ago, Del Potro now will try to pull off a third surprise on Sunday, when he meets defending champion Andy Murray in the best-of-five-set final.

The No. 2-seeded Murray earned a gold in singles and a silver in mixed doubles for Britain at the 2012 London Games. On the other hand, Rafa still has got a chance to win a bronze as he faces Kei Nishikori of Japan on Sunday and he needs to defeat him to win the Bronze medal.
