Brazil Police arrested 10 suspected terrorists ahead of Rio. File Pic[/caption]Internet Desk: Brazil on its last stage of security arrangement before the Olympics arrested 10 suspected terrorists. However, their link with ISIS is yet to be confirmed.
According to the Brazilian Justice ministry they were suspected of belonging to a poorly organized group supporting Islamic State (IS) and discussing terrorist acts during the next month's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Justice minister Alexandre Moraes described them as "absolutely amateur".
Although Brazil has no history of conflict with known militant groups, Moraes said the Games had made the Latin American country a more likely target, particularly because of participation by countries fighting IS. "Today was the first operation against a supposed
terrorist cell in Brazil," he told a news conference. "Brazil was not part of the coalition against IS but, because of the upcoming Olympics and because it will receive many foreigners, Brazil has become a target."
These youths were trapped when they tried to buy a gun through online which is very amateur idea. According to the Justice Ministry they don’t even know each other. The arrested youths were monitored very closely because they had accessed websites linked to IS, but the group had "no preparation at all" and was a "disorganized cell".
They were arrested as soon as they appeared to carry out “preparatory acts” for an attack. At least one youth is understood to have been involved. Mr Moraes said the group, from 10 states around Brazil, had shown support for Isil, discussed buying guns from Paraguay and celebrated recent terror attacks in Orlando and Nice.
