Internet Desk: Cricket Association of Bengal president Sourav Ganguly is leaving no stone unturned as far as hosting a Day Night test match is concerned in the near future. With India expected to host their first day-night Test against New Zealand later in the year, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has shown interest in hosting a local club cricket match with the pink-ball in a bid to showcase their preparedness. CAB has decided to host the final of the Super League under the lights with pink ball.
"Yes, we want to host to a pink-ball Test in the future. We will have to be ready for the requirements," said Sourav. "As you know, we will try to host a local four-day match with the pink ball under the floodlights as a test. But we will have to get the clearance from the Board first.”
Australia hosted the first ever Day Night test match against New Zealand in Adelaide last year. As far as BCCI is concerned, it is also mulling the idea of having a test match under the lights. In fact the board has also decided to have day-night matches for this year's Duleep Trophy.
Meanwhile, the first ever Super League will consists of the top 8 clubs in local club cricket. The league will start on May 15 with the final scheduled for June 16. The final will be a four day affair and will be played under the lights at Eden Gardens. The Super League will be played as per Ranji Trophy rules with the team taking a first innings lead getting 3 points. For an outright win the team will get a bonus point and an extra point will be given if a team wins by 10 wickets or by an innings. Points will be shared if the match gets washed away due to rain.
The teams are divided into two groups. Town, Shyambazar, Bhawanipur and Tollygunje Agragami forming Group A. While Group B consists of league champions East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Kalighat and Tapan Memorial.
