Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption]Kolkata: New Zealand will look to maintain their winning streak in the World T20 as they meet Bangladesh tomorrow at Eden Gardens. The Kiwis have been on role winning all their three matches. Bangladesh on the other hand will look to leave behind the disappointment of losing the thriller against India on Wednesday. The Black Caps have already sealed a berth in the last four and would look to be high on confidence ahead of the knock outs.
Bangladesh will be playing their second match at the Eden Gardens in the ensuing World T20 and the familiar conditions in front of an expected crowd support closer to home would certainly boost the team’s morale after their heart-aching loss to India. Opening their Super 10 campaign here, Bangladesh were handed out a 55-run loss by Pakistan but they raised their standards to scare the mighty Australia and India. Certainly Bangladesh is punching over their weight with their creditable performances against India and Australia and has won the hearts; it’s time that they display some maturity and calm demeanor to win a match.
Bangladesh captain Mashraffe Mortaza will be cursing his misfortune as his side dominated the match against India till the last three balls were bowled. But over enthusiasm from senior pros Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah cost them the match against India.
“We needed two from three balls... We've to accept the criticism. We should have won it easily. Whatever people say, we don't have anything to say. It's acceptable. The situation was such that anyone can give any kind of comment.” Moshraffe commented ahead of their tie against New Zealand.
“It's very important for us. We knew it was a tough group, it was a close match. We have to play our best again. If we get the opportunity, we have to make sure we don't repeat the same mistakes. It's difficult. We had 48 hours to ponder about it. Obviously we can't change what happened,” added Mashrafe.
Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahaman all have shown flashes of their brilliance and despite the suspension of their two in-form bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny, Bangladesh have been resilient.
Bangladesh will have to focus and put the disappointment behind so as to secure their first win against New Zealand who has a 3-0 win-loss record in T20Is.
“Everyone is very upset with the loss against India. They can’t just talk with each other. We had a good chance to upset them but missed the opportunity. It was really disappointing. Boys got some chance to regroup in the last 48 hours. We hope to take something positive back home from the last match at the Eden Gardens,” said a visibly upset Bangladesh captain.
Bangladesh has been playing some impressive brand of cricket in the last couple of years, reaching the quarter finals of the World Cup in Australia. Mashrafe himself have been leading the team from the front. “It’s difficult to compare. We have prepared a good team. We have reached a stage in last one-two years. We have reached quarterfinal in the ODI World Cup. World Cup is a stage where you have to give your best. We made some crucial mistakes despite playing good. Hopefully we will be a different team from the next World Cup.”
